About Us
Caz Steele
Director & Creative Facilitator
Kia ora! My name is Caz. I am a creative facilitator and therapeutic dance practitioner. I have worked with many people in a range of different creative and support roles. Previously, I have worked in funding management, support service coordination as well as the direct "hands-on" side of support services in the disability sector.
I am based in North Canterbury but offer creative well-being services throughout Christchurch and the greater Canterbury region, as well as offering remote sessions online. I want to support you or someone you care for with the journey toward well-being, self-confidence, creative exploration, meaningful connections, and meaningful experiences by utilising the arts!
The organisations, educators, and (most importantly) the people I have worked with have been hugely inspirational and furthered my drive to serve meaningful change within both my professional life and personal life. I have worked with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other types of neurodivergence, mental distress, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and dementia. I have worked with children through to older adults.
Some things I enjoy most in life are: going on road trips with no planned destination, dancing in the kitchen, falling into internet rabbit holes, and spending time in the garden with my cat.
I would love to hear from you! You can contact me through e-mail: caz@empoweraotearoa.com or give me a call or text: 022 347 9499.

Greetings!
Hello and welcome to my page.
I want to thank you for taking the time to know about me and my approach towards wellbeing and healing. I am a passionate arts therapist (in the making) dedicated that supports individuals to explore their emotions in a safe place, allowing room for self-discovery, and promoting healing through the transformative power of arts. I believe that art has the incredible ability to communicate what words alone cannot.
What I do?
In my facilitation sessions create a safe and non-judgmental space for one-on-one sessions as well as groups. In the sessions, the clients can express themselves through different art mediums. I believe in a collaborative approach using play as a form of facilitating my sessions and work towards a co-creation therapeutic journey. Working on a project together creates space for an insight into the client’s emotions, resilience, and develop coping strategies for the clients. I strive to empower my clients and work towards healing holistically. I support my clients on their journey of acceptance and self-love.
What can I support you with?
My therapeutic session spans a wide range of support, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client, drawing on a variety of art modalities such as painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, dance, play, and many more.
