Creative Practitioners Peer Support & Supervision

Kōrero, Ako, Mahi Toi

(Discussion, Teaching/Learning, Art Work)

To nurture creative professionals working with the community we will be creating a fertile space for open conversation, creation, and reciprocal learning.

The space is open to arts therapists, dance/movement therapists, music therapists, theraplay therapists, students, arts facilitators, and anyone else working in similar fields or is interested in pursuing a career in the aforementioned mentioned areas. The sessions will run quarterly at The White Room Community Creative Space at The Climate Action Campus in Richmond.

The intention of the group is to provide an informal space for professionals working with the community and the arts to connect, share ideas, learn from one another, collaborate, discuss solutions for common difficulties, and spend time together creating art together. It will provide the opportunity to reflect on and improve our practices and through that, make an improved impact on the community that we work with.

The sessions will start with an opening exercise which will be facilitated by different people each time. This way the group will be molded by and enriched through many lenses and modalities. As peer supervisors, everyone will be teachers and learners in a non-hierarchical way, harnessing the Māori concept of 'Ako' - that both teaching and learning are one, a reciprocal journey!
